Samsung Omnia HD review

Samsung Omnia HD is the new slim phone, with thickness of 12.9mm, from Samsung. It has a large screen size which is absolutely suitable for a touch screen phone. The call buttons are large and placed on the sides of menu button. On the sides of Samsung Omnia we have buttons for locking the screen, volume control buttons and the camera button. The interface of Samsung Omnia is very easy to navigate and its also an attractive one. The operating system of Samsung Omnia is based on Symbian OS. The touch screen has a good response and Samsung Omnia has got an option for onscreen QWERTY keyboard.

Samsung Omnia HD is powered by an ARM Cortes A8 600 MHz processor and it has a dedicated graphics chip. The 8 Mega Pixel camera is good for taking large pictures with better quality but the video clarity in low light is not as good as the still photos. Samsung Omnia HD supports 720pvideo recording. The sound clarity through head phones are good but the loud speakers are not having large volume.

Samsung Omnia HD supports WiFi, GPS and bluetooth connectivity. The inbuilt memory of Samsung Omnia HD is 8/16 GB and the memory is expandable using a micro SD card. Samsung Omnia provides a good browsing experience with its browser which has the option to resize web pages at a finger swipe.

The battery life of Samsung Omnia HD is not good as for a high end phone. We need to recharge the battery daily even if we are not using highly. The Samsung Omnia HD price in India is approximately Rs.33,990.

Sony Ericsson K550i

Sony Ericsson K550i is one of the best feature rich multimedia phone from Sony Ericsson in the mid range. It is one of the entry level phones from Sony Ericsson in the cybershot category. It has got a stylish design which catches everyone's eyes. The looks of Sony Ericsson K550i is amazing but it has got very small keys in the keypad. So it's difficult to type faster initially, but its easy when we get used to it. Another feature is that unlike other Sony Ericsson phones it doesn't have a joystick for navigation but a 5 way navigation key is used. So you need not get worried of loosing joystick by playing games on your mobile. The keypad also has shortcut keys for connecting internet and accessing minimized applications.

Sony Ericsson K550i is the entry level model in the cybershot series with a 2 mega pixel camera. It has also got an LED flash and a covering slide to protect the camera. Also some useful photo editing tools are also pre-installed in Sony Ericsson K550i. Options to upload photo to your blog and send directly through MMS are also available with Sony Ericsson K550i. We can record video and take snapshots from the video using tools in this mobile phone.

It supports audio formats like mp3, aac and video formats like 3gp for playing your audio and video files. Sony Ericsson K 550i also has separate players for audio and video playing. The sound through speakers is little bit low, but the quality of sound through head sets are amazing. It has got an internal memory of 64 MB and you can expand the memory using a micro memory card upto 2 GB which is enough for storing lot of music and photos.

Sony Ericsson K550i has connectivity options like GPRS, EDGE and it doesn't have 3G support which is a major drawback. It has good battery backup but not the best for a phone in cybershot series. The Sony Ericsson K550i gets heated when we use it continuously for a long time which is also a drawback. Overall its a good phone in the mid range budget with a price of around Rs.7000 (approximately). If you need 3GP facility you can look for Sony Ericsson K530i which having almost same functions and price.
